About Me:
Alana Wenick, Instructional Designer
Welcome! My name is Alana Wenick, and I am an enthusiastic instructional designer with 12+ years of experience in instructional materials creation, eLearning development, and assessment design. I am passionate about all aspects of learning, but have a knack for using data analysis and building strong SME partnerships to create research-supported learning solutions for organizational challenges. I use learning strategies and practices such as ADDIE and the Understanding by Design (Backward Design) framework.
I began my career in Education as part of the NYC Teaching Collaborative Program, a program designed to effect change in the city’s highest-need schools. I spent ten years in the secondary classroom followed by two years working in learning & development at a national healthcare assessment company. I am passionate about creating balanced learning experiences by integrating multiple perspectives. I do this by collaborating with stakeholders, applying data analysis, and prioritizing the learner experience to design engaging and equitable learning opportunities.
In my free time, I enjoy camping, hiking, and travel (particularly with my oft-misbehaved Beagle mix, Archie). Additionally, and possibly most importantly, I am on an endless search for city's best breakfast sandwich. The mission continues.
